KTR Criticizes Telangana Budget, Calls It “Complete Betrayal” Of People

Hyderabad (Telangana) [India]: Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) on Wednesday strongly criticized the Congress government’s latest Telangana budget, calling it a “complete betrayal” that left the people of the state with “zero gains.”

Describing the budget as a reflection of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s inefficiency and administrative failure, KTR accused the government of dashing the hopes of Telangana’s four crore residents. He claimed the Congress government was more focused on “sending bags of money” to Delhi than fulfilling its promises.

KTR called the budget a “40 per cent commission budget,” alleging it prioritized political greed over public welfare. He vowed that BRS would oppose this “anti-people budget” vigorously.

Addressing Congress’ six guarantees, KTR mocked the unfulfilled promises, saying, “After Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka’s hour-and-a-half speech, it became clear that these guarantees were a hollow chant of ‘Govinda Govinda.'”

He accused Congress of abandoning their own affidavit, once compared to the Bhagavad Gita, after securing votes through false promises. KTR criticized the absence of key schemes such as the Rs 2,500 Mahalakshmi monthly support for women, Rs 4,000 pensions for the elderly, and the promised “tula of gold.”

KTR claimed that while the BRS government borrowed Rs 4.17 lakh crore over 10 years, the Congress government borrowed Rs 1.6 lakh crore in just one year without introducing new projects or schemes.

Mocking Congress’ “trillion-dollar economy” claim, KTR said they “don’t even know how many zeros that entails” and are instead pursuing a “trillion-dollar debt.”

He blamed Revanth Reddy’s negative policies for a Rs 73,000 crore drop in state revenue and questioned why Bhatti Vikramarka’s “realistic budget” failed to deliver.

KTR further alleged that over 100 auto drivers had taken their own lives due to Congress’ free bus scheme, yet no mention of an Auto Drivers’ Welfare Board appeared in the budget. He criticized Congress for failing to deliver on job promises and for drastically reducing weaver aid from Rs 1,200 crore to Rs 370 crore.

“The Rs 12,000 aid for farm labourers was another broken promise,” KTR said, challenging Congress to prove 100 per cent implementation of the scheme in any village.

He claimed marginalized communities were cheated as well, with BCs underrepresented in the caste census and promises to support various groups like Yadavs, Gouds, and Dalits left unfulfilled.

KTR accused Congress of escalating corruption from a 20 per cent to a 40 per cent commission system, claiming they aimed to distribute Rs 6,000 crore to Congress workers “like jaggery and dal.”

“This isn’t youth development; it’s Telangana’s destruction,” KTR said, condemning the government for allegedly focusing on beauty contests instead of addressing farmers’ struggles.

Taking a sharp jibe at Revanth Reddy, KTR remarked, “If a lizard ripens, it becomes a chameleon; if a chameleon ripens, it becomes Revanth Reddy.”

He concluded by warning that Congress was “more dangerous than Covid-19,” accusing them of stalling progress and leaving Telangana’s power supply in jeopardy.
