Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India]: A stunning half-century by KL Rahul, coupled with a calm and calculated knock by Abhishek Porel, led Delhi Capitals (DC) to a commanding 8-wicket victory over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Ekana Cricket Stadium on Tuesday. The win saw DC level on points with Gujarat Titans, both teams now holding 12 points in the IPL 2025 standings.

Returning to his former home turf, Rahul stole the show with an unbeaten 57 off 37 balls, becoming the fastest player to reach 5000 IPL runs and notching up his 40th IPL half-century.

🎯 Chase Masterclass from Delhi Capitals
Chasing 160, DC got off to a fiery start with Karun Nair and Abhishek Porel hammering Shardul Thakur for 15 runs in the opening over. Nair smashed a six over Aiden Markram’s head but was bowled for 15(9) after a smart powerplay move by LSG skipper Rishabh Pant, who brought in spin early.

That dismissal, however, didn’t deter the visitors. Rahul and Porel stitched a calm and steady 69-run partnership, keeping the chase on course. Porel reached his first fifty of the season with a six off Ravi Bishnoi, finishing with 51 off 36 balls before holing out to David Miller off Aiden Markram’s bowling.
Rahul, showing his typical flair, slog-swept a massive 86-meter six and later wrapped up the win with another elegant maximum. He was joined by Axar Patel, who had a stroke of luck when Prince Yadav dropped him.

- Fastest to 5000 IPL runs
- 40th IPL fifty
- Match-winning 57* in 37 balls
🏏 First Innings: Markram Shines, But LSG Falter Late
Batting first, LSG openers Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh set a strong platform with a 51-run powerplay. Markram top-scored with a fluent 52 off 33 (2 fours, 3 sixes) before falling to Dushmantha Chameera.
LSG stumbled after that:
- Nicholas Pooran fell for 9 to Mitchell Starc
- Abdul Samad struggled with a slow 2 off 8
- Mitchell Marsh was dismissed for 45 by Mukesh Kumar
Ayush Badoni and David Miller tried to stabilize the innings, adding 49 runs. Badoni hit a quickfire 36 off 21 (6 boundaries) before being removed by Mukesh Kumar, who was also responsible for taking Pant’s wicket on the final ball of the innings.
Miller stayed unbeaten on 14 off 15, unable to accelerate in the death overs.
🏆 Result:
Delhi Capitals beat Lucknow Super Giants by 8 wickets
Player of the Match: KL Rahul – 57* (37 balls)
