Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh), March 25: Delhi Capitals (DC) cricketer KL Rahul’s teammates, including captain Axar Patel, have shared a heartwarming video on social media celebrating the arrival of his newborn daughter. The DC family extended their warm wishes with the cradling gesture, as coach Hemang Badani, mentor Kevin Pietersen, and players Tristan Stubbs and Jake Fraser McGurk joined in to welcome KL Rahul’s baby with wife, Bollywood actress Athiya Shetty.
The video, posted on DC’s official X handle, was accompanied by the song “Meri Duniya Tu Hi Re” from the 2007 film Heyy Babyy, sung by Sonu Nigam, Shaan, and Shankar Mahadevan. Athiya Shetty also shared the joyful news on Instagram, announcing the birth of their baby girl with a painting of two swans and the message: “Blessed with a baby girl.”
KL Rahul and Athiya Shetty tied the knot on January 23, 2023, in a private ceremony at Suniel Shetty’s farmhouse in Khandala. The couple had announced their pregnancy in November 2024, sharing a post with the caption, “Our beautiful blessing is coming soon. 2025.”
KL Rahul is set to enter IPL 2025 with great momentum, having played a key role in India’s ICC Champions Trophy 2025 victory. The middle-order batter contributed significantly to the final against New Zealand, scoring an invaluable 34* in 33 balls, helping secure India’s win. In the tournament, Rahul scored 140 runs from five matches at an average of 140.00 and a strike rate of 97.90, with a best score of 42*.
