KKR’s Varun Chakravarthy Fined for Code of Conduct Breach During Clash With CSK

Kolkata (West Bengal) [India]: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) spinner Varun Chakravarthy has been fined 25% of his match fees and handed one demerit point for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during KKR’s clash with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Eden Gardens on Wednesday.

According to an official IPL statement, Chakravarthy was penalized under Level 1 of Article 2.5 of the Code, which pertains to gestures that can provoke a dismissal or be deemed unsporting. The incident occurred when Varun dismissed Dewald Brevis and gestured with his index finger for the batter to “go back,” an action deemed a breach of conduct.

The spinner accepted the sanction and admitted to the offense. For Level 1 violations, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding.
