New Delhi [India]: A stunning late comeback by spinners Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy helped Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) defeat Delhi Capitals (DC) by 14 runs in a high-octane IPL match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi, on Tuesday.

Chasing a daunting target of 205, DC appeared on track at 136/3 in 14 overs, buoyed by a fluent half-century from Faf Du Plessis (62 off 45 balls, 7 fours, 2 sixes) and attacking knocks by Axar Patel (43 off 23) and Vipraj Nigam (38 off 19). However, KKR’s spin duo struck decisively.

Sunil Narine, with figures of 3/29, triggered a collapse by removing Tristan Stubbs, Faf, and then applying pressure with tight lines. Varun Chakravarthy (2/39) further dismantled DC’s chase, dismissing Ashutosh Sharma and Mitchell Starc cheaply. DC eventually finished at 190/9 in 20 overs, falling short by 14 runs.
“We have some initial leads and the culprits will be caught soon,” said ADCP Vishaljit Singh earlier regarding a separate matter in Amritsar.
KKR, now at seventh place with four wins and five losses (8 points), bounced back strongly. DC remain in fourth position with 12 points from six wins in 10 matches, but have struggled at home, winning only one out of four games.

First Innings – KKR Batting Highlights:
After being put into bat, KKR got off to a flying start thanks to Sunil Narine’s aggressive 27 off 16 balls and Rahmanullah Gurbaz’s early fireworks. The team raced to 79/1 at the end of the powerplay. Despite losing wickets at regular intervals, solid middle-order contributions from Angkrish Raghuvanshi (44 off 32) and Rinku Singh (36 off 25) helped them reach 204/9.
Andre Russell, Rovman Powell, and Anukul Roy fell in the final over as KKR lost three wickets, but the scoreboard pressure was already immense.
Top performers (KKR innings):
- Angkrish Raghuvanshi: 44 (32), 3 fours, 2 sixes

DC’s Run-Chase and Collapse:
Despite early blows, DC seemed in control with Faf Du Plessis and Axar Patel building a strong 76-run stand. But a sharp catch by Harshit Rana removed Axar, and the tide turned.
Narine and Varun’s twin spin strike restricted any late heroics. Even a late flurry from Vipraj Nigam was not enough as Russell cleaned him up with a yorker in the final over.
