Kolkata (West Bengal) [India]: The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have signed Madhya Pradesh leg-spinner Shivam Shukla as a replacement for West Indies’ Rovman Powell for the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season.
Shukla, known for his mystery spin, has featured in eight T20 matches so far and claimed eight wickets. His inclusion brings a fresh spin option to KKR as they aim to wrap up their campaign on a high.
KKR, the defending champions from IPL 2024, saw their title defense cut short after a washout in Bengaluru, a game that came just after the league resumed following a 10-day break.
Currently placed sixth in the points table with five wins, six losses, and two washouts, KKR have one final league game remaining — a clash with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Delhi next Sunday. With no chance of making the playoffs, the match offers KKR an opportunity to test emerging talent and end their season on a positive note.
