August 1, 2025: Kingdom, Vijay Deverakonda’s long-awaited spy-action movie, eventually came out in theaters on July 31 after a number of delays. It had a solid opening at the box office. The latest news from Sacnilk says that the movie had a good first day, making ₹15.50 crore.
This great number puts Kingdom ahead of Vijay Deverakonda’s past flicks. The movie made more money on its first day than The Family Star, which made ₹5.75 crore. It also beat Kushi, his movie from 2022, which made ₹15.25 crore. Kingdom, on the other hand, couldn’t beat the actor’s best opening, which was ₹15.95 crore for his movie Liger in 2019.
A lot of people went to the movie, with 57.87% of Telugu speakers going on Thursday. The morning performances had the most people, with 63.56% of the seats full. The afternoon shows had the second most, with 56.52% of seats full. 50.12% of people came to evening events, but night shows saw a large increase in attendance, with 61.27% of people coming.
Kingdom features Suri, a police officer turned spy played by Deverakonda. He is on a mission for the Indian government in Sri Lanka and is also looking for his long-lost brother, Siva, played by Satyadev. Bhagyashri Borse plays Suri’s love interest in the movie.
The movie finishes on a cliffhanger, which is a brilliant move that has left many fans wanting more. At a press conference after the movie came out, producer Naga Vamsi said that a sequel, Kingdom Part 2, is already in the works.
Some critics have said that the screenplay has problems in the second half, even though the movie has gotten good reviews, especially for Vijay Deverakonda’s performance. Hindustan Times said that Vijay “finally gets his redemption arc with Kingdom, both as an actor and character,” and praised him for being able to play the role in different ways.
