Paris [France], May 14: American media personality Kim Kardashian appeared in a Paris courtroom on Tuesday, delivering a gripping testimony in connection with the 2016 armed robbery incident that occurred during Paris Fashion Week.
According to Variety, Kardashian came face-to-face with the alleged robbers—accused of stealing $6 million worth of jewellery—as she recounted the traumatising midnight ordeal that left her fearing for her life.
Testifying before the court, Kardashian described how the intruders, disguised as police officers, forced their way into her private hotel suite, restraining the concierge before entering her room. “I thought it was some sort of terrorist attack,” she said, as quoted by The Washington Post.
Clad in only a bathrobe, Kardashian said she was zip-tied and had her mouth taped shut, believing she would be sexually assaulted and possibly killed.
“I absolutely did think I was going to die,” she testified.
One of the robbers allegedly pointed a gun at her head and dragged her to the bathtub, while another gestured toward her hand for her jewellery, Variety reported.
Kardashian recalled praying for her family and friends, convinced she would not survive the attack.
Dubbed the “grandpa robbers” by French media, ten men currently stand trial, most of whom are in their 60s and 70s. Of the original twelve accused, one has since died and another was excused from the trial due to illness.
The gang reportedly tracked Kardashian’s whereabouts using her social media activity, raising further concerns about digital privacy for celebrities.
The case continues as the courtroom examines testimonies and evidence surrounding one of the most high-profile celebrity crimes of the past decade.
