Washington [US], June 26: Reality TV star and business mogul Kim Kardashian is reportedly in discussions to take on a lead role in a new live-action film based on the iconic Bratz fashion doll line.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the project is currently in development at Amazon MGM Studios, with the screenplay being written by Charlie Polinger and Lucy McKendrick.
Originally launched in 2001, the Bratz brand has sold over 200 million dolls globally. Despite a lackluster box office performance from its first live-action adaptation in 2007, the franchise remains popular, especially among Gen Z audiences. The upcoming reboot aims to revitalize the brand for a modern generation with a fresh and stylish cinematic approach.
Kardashian, who recently starred in American Horror Story Season 12, is currently filming All’s Fair, a Hulu legal drama created by Ryan Murphy. She also serves as producer on the series. In addition, she is set to headline and co-produce Netflix’s upcoming comedy film The 5th Wheel.
Charlie Polinger, known for his directorial debut The Plague, which premiered at Cannes, teams up with Lucy McKendrick, who is also working on her own film Fangs, starring Toni Collette and Joel Edgerton.
