Pakistani Defence Minister Khawaja Asif Relies On Fake Social Media Claims To Justify False Jet Kill Count Post Operation Sindoor

In the wake of Operation Sindoor, which saw India destroy nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has come under fire for spreading misinformation and failing to provide credible evidence for counter-claims.

🔴 Khawaja Asif’s Bizarre CNN Interview: “Evidence on Social Media”

In a widely shared CNN interview, Asif made the unverified claim that Pakistan shot down five Indian fighter jets, stating:

“It’s all over social media, on Indian social media, not our social media. The debris of these jets fell into Kashmir… Indian media today has admitted.”

The anchor swiftly rebuffed him, saying:

“I’m sorry, we didn’t ask you here to talk about social media content.”

When pressed for technical details or physical evidence, Asif was unable to name the aircraft involved or confirm what systems were used, vaguely referring to Chinese-made JF-17 and JF-10 jets assembled in Pakistan.

🔹 Viral Lies Exposed: PIB Fact Check Steps In

India’s Press Information Bureau (PIB) Fact Check has actively debunked Pakistan’s disinformation campaign, showing that:

  • A viral image of a “downed Rafale” was actually from a MiG-21 crash in Moga, Punjab, in 2021, unrelated to current events.
  • A video falsely claiming Indian Army’s surrender at Chora Post, promoted by Pakistan’s Minister Attaullah Tarar, was proven fake. The Indian Army categorically denied any such incident.

These fake claims have been shared widely by Pakistani officials and media, with zero credible evidence.

🔍 Earlier Admission: “We Funded Terror Groups”

In a previous interview with Sky News journalist Yalda Hakim, Khawaja Asif openly admitted:

“We have been doing this dirty work for the United States… and the West… for about three decades… That was a mistake.”

This extraordinary admission aligns with India’s longstanding position that Pakistan has been a state sponsor of terror, and lends further weight to India’s actions under Operation Sindoor.

🛫 Indian Military’s Measured Strike: Precision with No Civilian Harm

Indian Air Force’s Wing Commander Vyomika Singh confirmed that nine terrorist sites were destroyed with high precision, ensuring zero civilian infrastructure damage. The strikes were a direct response to the Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 26 people, mostly tourists.

📌 Summary

Pakistan’s attempts to distort the narrative around Operation Sindoor have been undermined by contradictory statements, lack of evidence, and public admissions of terror funding. The international community and Indian agencies have effectively debunked Islamabad’s propaganda, reinforcing India’s position as acting in self-defence and against terrorism.
