Patna (Bihar) [India], December 27 : Faizal Khan, popularly known as Khan Sir, met with protesting Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) aspirants in Patna on Friday, urging them to continue their protests peacefully. Speaking to the crowd, Khan Sir expressed solidarity with the students and said, “Everyone wants a re-exam,” while joining in the chants against the BPSC.
Khan Sir also took a jibe at the state of affairs, saying, “First, the country’s GDP fell, then a bridge collapsed in Bihar, and now, BPSC has failed too,” referencing a series of events that have led to growing discontent in the state.
The protest, which began on December 13, was sparked by allegations of irregularities during the BPSC exam. Candidates claimed that the exam was marred by a question paper leak, delayed distribution of papers, and damaged answer sheets. Some candidates even reported receiving the paper nearly an hour late, leading to suspicions about the exam’s integrity.
The protests have generated strong political reactions. Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Lalu Yadav criticized the police for using force against the protesting students, stating that the “lathi charge” was wrong. However, the police clarified that only “mild force” was used, and no injuries were reported among the protestors.
On Thursday, political strategist Prashant Kishore, head of Jan Suraj, issued an ultimatum to the Bihar government. He demanded that the issue be resolved within three days or he would lead the protests himself. Kishore condemned the police action and called for immediate talks with student representatives, urging the government to consider their demand for a re-examination. He also demanded a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the family of a student who recently committed suicide, reportedly due to the stress caused by the controversy.
Kishore’s warning to the government was clear: if the issue is not addressed within three days, he would take to the streets alongside the students.
