‘Khakee: The Bengal Chapter’ Premieres on Netflix with Gripping Crime Drama Set In 2000s Kolkata

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], March 22: The much-awaited crime drama Khakee: The Bengal Chapter has finally premiered on Netflix, offering viewers an intense narrative of crime, power, and law enforcement in early 2000s Kolkata. Directed by Debatma Mandal and Tushar Kanti Ray, the series is a follow-up to the 2022 hit Khakee: The Bihar Chapter by Neeraj Pandey. The show features an ensemble cast of Bengali cinema heavyweights, including Prosenjit Chatterjee, Jeet, Parambrata Chattopadhyay, and Saswata Chatterjee.

In an interview lead actors Chitrangda Singh, Ritwik Bhowmik, and Aadil Khan shared insights into their roles and their experience on the show.

Chitrangda Singh, who plays the emotionally complex Nibedita, expressed her excitement about the character, saying, “I was instantly in love with Nibedita. Characters that live such opposite lives are very interesting to me. The intertwining of strengths, weaknesses, love, and pain is what drew me to this role.” She also mentioned how being a mother has emotionally enriched her and how life’s responsibilities help her bring depth to her characters.

Ritwik Bhowmik, who portrays Sagor, discussed his transformation for the role, saying, “It was an enjoyable journey for me to become Sagor. I hope the audience appreciates this new shade of mine, as they embrace the evolving face of Bengal cinema.” He also praised the camaraderie on set, especially with Chitrangda Singh, which enhanced the overall experience.

Aadil Khan, who plays Ranjit, shared his thoughts on the challenges of entering the film industry. He advised aspiring actors to have a genuine passion for the craft, adding, “If you lack true hunger for acting, the journey can be tough, but if you love it, every moment will be worth it.”

Chitrangda Singh summed up the essence of the show, saying, “Acting isn’t just about glamour; it requires passion and resilience. If you have that, you can survive in this industry.”

A standout feature of Khakee: The Bengal Chapter is its all-Bengali star cast in a Hindi-language series. The show marks the first collaboration between Bengali superstars Jeet and Prosenjit Chatterjee, with Jeet playing an IPS officer and Prosenjit reportedly portraying a powerful politician. Co-written by Neeraj Pandey, Debatma Mandal, and Samrat Chakraborty, the gripping storyline explores crime, corruption, and political influence, as a determined police officer battles to restore justice.

The series has already made waves for its intense narrative and powerhouse performances.
