Munger (Bihar) [India]: In a dramatic turn of events, Guddu Yadav, a key accused in the murder of Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Santosh Kumar Singh, was shot in the leg by police after attempting to seize a constable’s weapon during an operation, officials confirmed on Saturday.
Incident Details
The police team from Mufassil Police Station was en route to arrest Guddu Yadav based on intelligence provided by a previously detained suspect. During the journey, the police vehicle met with an accident, injuring the Station House Officer (SHO) and four other officers.
Taking advantage of the chaos, Guddu Yadav managed to snatch a constable’s rifle and aimed it at the police team. In response, the police fired in self-defense, injuring him in the leg.
Guddu Yadav was immediately taken into custody and is currently receiving treatment at Sadar Hospital.
Arrests and Investigation
Superintendent of Police (SP) Syed Imran Masood confirmed that:
✅ Four suspects, including a woman, have been arrested so far.
✅ The accused have been identified as Ranveer Yadav, Guddu Yadav, Vikas Yadav, and a woman from the same family.
✅ The police are actively pursuing the remaining suspects involved in the case.
“An unfortunate incident took place with ASI Santosh Kumar yesterday in which he lost his life. Our teams conducted raids through the night, leading to four arrests. While heading to arrest the remaining suspects, our vehicle met with an accident. Guddu Yadav attempted to seize a rifle and was shot in the leg in self-defense,” SP Masood stated.
