Los Angeles [US], May 27: Oscar-winning actor Kevin Spacey has returned to the director’s chair for the first time in over two decades, helming the upcoming supernatural action-thriller “Holiguards.”
According to Variety, the indie film features a powerhouse cast including Dolph Lundgren (Rocky IV, The Expendables), Tyrese Gibson (Fast & Furious), Brianna Hildebrand (Deadpool, Lucifer), India’s own Disha Patani (Kalki 2898 AD, Bharat), and Eric Roberts (Runaway Train).
Set in a dystopian near-future, Holiguards unfolds a secret war between two ancient factions — the Holiguards and Statiguards — battling for the fate of humanity. The story centers on a young woman who learns she’s the child of rival leaders and may hold the key to peace. Meanwhile, a devastating plot brews in Paris involving a nuclear device, a mind-controlled army, and the awakening of a cosmic entity known as “the Prime.”
The film is intended to launch a franchise titled “Statiguards vs. Holiguards,” and also stars Harry Goodwins, Swen Temmel, and Sonia Pim Couling.
Shot in Mexico last year, the project is currently in post-production. It is also the debut feature production for Elledgy Media, the company founded by Portugal-based Ukrainian entrepreneur Elvira Gavrilova Paterson.
Fans and critics alike are watching closely, as Holiguards marks not only Spacey’s comeback to directing but also a bold attempt at crafting a new cinematic universe blending supernatural warfare with sci-fi intensity.
