Kerala Police Nabs Filmmaker Sanal Kumar Sasidharan at Mumbai Airport

The Kerala Police issued a watch circular for Malayalam filmmaker Sanal Kumar Sasidharan, who was arrested at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport on Sunday. The actress filed a harassment case against him in January, which led to this action.

The actress, whose name has not been formally released by the police but has been recognized by news outlets as Manju Warrier, filed a complaint saying that Sasidharan was cyberstalking, threatening her with violence, and spreading false information about her. The charges were filed under different parts of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The police put out a lookout notice because the filmmaker was in the United States when the complaint was made. Sasidharan has had legal problems with the same lady before. He was detained in May 2022 on similar charges and eventually released on bond.

When he was arrested, Sasidharan went on social media to say that he didn’t know about the case against him and questioned the constitutionality of the lookout notice. He also said that he hadn’t been given food or water in seven hours and was worried for his life. In a post, he told journalists to ask the police about the due process of his incarceration.

The Kochi City Police said that a squad would go to Mumbai to arrest the filmmaker in accordance with the lookout bulletin. The arrest adds a fresh twist to a long-running legal and public spat between the famous director and the actress.
