New Delhi [India], January 23: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal announced on Thursday that addressing unemployment will be his top priority in the next five years. He assured Delhi’s youth that his government would work towards eliminating unemployment in the capital.
“In the next five years, my priority will be to create as many jobs as possible. Our team is already working on the planning, and I am hopeful that within five years, we will have successfully eliminated unemployment in Delhi,” Kejriwal said.
He reflected on the achievements of his government over the past decade, which focused on improving education, healthcare, electricity, water, and infrastructure. However, he expressed concern that despite these advancements, many educated young people in Delhi are still struggling to find jobs. “Our children, despite being well-educated, are sitting idle at home, looking for employment. This often leads them into bad company and, eventually, crime, which is hard to reverse,” he noted.
Kejriwal emphasized that unemployment was the biggest challenge facing families in Delhi today. He reassured the public that while his government would continue to improve services like education, healthcare, electricity, and roads, its main focus would be job creation. “We will continue to work on these areas, but our main focus will be eliminating unemployment in Delhi,” he added.
He further highlighted the strength of his team, which includes leaders like Atishi, Manish Sisodia, Gopal Rai, Jasmin Shah, Raghav Chaddha, Sanjay Singh, Satyendar Jain, and Saurabh Bharadwaj. “We have a very good team, all of whom are educated and dedicated. I have tasked them with planning how to tackle unemployment in Delhi,” Kejriwal stated.
The Delhi Assembly elections are set to take place on February 5, with vote counting scheduled for February 8. A total of 699 candidates are contesting for the 70 assembly seats. The Congress, which previously held power in Delhi for 15 consecutive years, has struggled in recent elections, while the AAP has secured significant victories in 2015 and 2020, winning 67 and 62 seats respectively.
