New Delhi [India], December 18: With the Delhi Assembly elections approaching, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal announced that he would make a significant declaration concerning senior citizens on Wednesday, which he said would be a landmark moment in the Delhi model. “I will make an important announcement today at 1 pm for our elders, marking another milestone in the Delhi model,” Kejriwal posted on X.
In a separate development, Kejriwal also strongly criticized Union Home Minister Amit Shah for his remarks on Dr. B.R. Ambedkar made in Parliament. The AAP leader accused Shah of belittling the legacy of Ambedkar and called out the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for their arrogance. “Amit Shah ji, see how you’re making fun of Baba Saheb Ambedkar in Parliament. The BJP has become so arrogant that they don’t respect anyone. Baba Saheb is no less than God for every child of this country. If Baba Saheb’s Constitution hadn’t been there, the oppressed, downtrodden, poor, and Dalits wouldn’t have been able to live on this earth. India will not tolerate the insult of Babasaheb. Jai Bhim,” Kejriwal posted.
Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, while campaigning for the upcoming elections, praised Kejriwal as the only leader in Delhi’s history who worked for the poor. She highlighted the AAP government’s work in the education sector, claiming that government schools in Delhi now offer better facilities than private schools. “For the past ten years, Arvind Kejriwal has worked for the common people of Delhi. He is the only leader who has truly worked for the poor,” she said.
On Sunday, AAP released its fourth and final list of 38 candidates for the 2025 Delhi Assembly Elections. Kejriwal will contest from New Delhi, CM Atishi from Kalkaji, Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj from Greater Kailash, and Minister Gopal Rai from Babarpur. Other key candidates include Satyendra Kumar Jain from Shakur Basti, Durgesh Pathak from Rajinder Nagar, and Ramesh Pehalwan from Kasturba Nagar.
