Kejriwal Questions Amit Shah On Safety Measures After Delhi Schools Receive Bomb Threats

After over 40 schools in Delhi received bomb threats on Monday, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal criticized Union Home Minister Amit Shah over the security situation in the national capital. Kejriwal questioned Shah on what measures were being taken to ensure the safety of residents, particularly in light of repeated bomb threats in various locations across Delhi.

Kejriwal, speaking to the media on Monday, emphasized that ensuring security was the responsibility of the central government. “The people of Delhi want to know what is being done for their safety. Amit Shah, the responsibility of security is yours, and you must provide it. Have any arrests been made to date?” he asked.

He also highlighted the increasing number of bomb threats this year, noting that threats had been made against schools, hospitals, shopping malls, colleges, and even airports. “The people of Delhi had never witnessed such incidents before this. On May 1, emails were received threatening to bomb over 200 schools, leading to evacuations. What effect do such threats have on the mental state of children? On May 12, eight hospitals and the airport received bomb threats. On May 24, several Delhi University colleges were threatened, and on October 20, there was an explosion in Rohini. On November 28, another blast occurred in Prashant Vihar,” Kejriwal said.

Earlier on Monday, over 40 schools in Delhi received an email threatening to detonate bombs unless a ransom of USD 30,000 was paid. The email stated, “I planted multiple bombs inside the building… It will not cause very much damage to the building, but many people will be injured when the bombs detonate… If I do not receive USD 30,000, I will detonate the bombs.”

In response, Delhi Police Public Relations Officer Sanjay Tyagi assured the public that security measures were in place. “Immediately after receiving the email, the police started their action. Teams have reached all locations. We are ensuring the security of all schools and children, and I want to reassure parents and the people of Delhi that we will take every possible step to ensure their safety. We will also identify the source of the email and take appropriate action,” Tyagi said.
