New Delhi [India], March 23: As the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 clash between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI) approaches, former India cricketer Kedar Jadhav praised the three seasoned spinners of MI – Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, and Noor Ahmad.
The highly anticipated match between the two most successful teams in IPL history, CSK and MI, will take place on Sunday at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. Both sides are filled with renowned cricketers who have had a massive impact on Indian cricket.
Speaking to the media on the opening day of IPL 2025, Jadhav shared his thoughts on how the spinners will play a crucial role in the upcoming match.
“It is important to see how the pitch is being prepared for the three spinners. It is also important to see the pitch. If the pitch is dry, the spinners will come into the game. I don’t think they will have an upper hand in the first half. In the second half, when the pitch is dry due to overheating, I think the three spinners will be a match-winning combination for CSK,” Jadhav said.
Ashwin, who returned to CSK for Rs 9.75 crore, has had an illustrious career, having taken 764 wickets across 286 matches in all formats. In IPL, Ashwin has been a pivotal figure, with 180 wickets in 212 matches. He is a multi-time IPL winner with CSK.
All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who is just eight wickets short of becoming CSK’s leading wicket-taker in IPL history, will be another key player. Jadeja’s tally of 132 wickets has only been bettered by Dwayne Bravo, who has 140 wickets. Jadeja is also close to becoming CSK’s second-most-capped player, provided he plays five more matches this season.
Meanwhile, CSK added Afghan spinner Noor Ahmad to their squad for a hefty Rs 10 crore in the recent auction. Noor, who has 16 wickets from 10 ODIs and 14 T20Is for Afghanistan, previously played for Gujarat Titans and is a prominent figure in franchise leagues.
The upcoming IPL match promises to be an exciting contest between two fierce rivals, with the spinners expected to have a significant role in determining the outcome.
