BRS MLC Kavitha Questions CM Revanth Reddy’s Silence On National Herald Case And Crop Damage Response

Khammam (Telangana) [India]: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC K Kavitha has raised questions about the silence of Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy regarding the Enforcement Directorate (ED) chargesheet in the National Herald case involving senior Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.

Addressing the media, Kavitha said that despite ongoing protests by Congress workers nationwide, CM Reddy had not issued any statement. Referring to Reddy as an “RSS Chief Minister,” she expressed surprise over his lack of response, especially during his international visit.

“…Surprisingly, the Telangana CM has been very silent on this. Although he is on an international trip, I believe the internet will definitely work in Japan… We were expecting that there would be a statement from the CM, but it is very interesting politics happening in Telangana… Everybody across the country in Congress has been protesting against their top leadership being named in the ED chargesheet, but our Chief Minister is silent, that’s why I have always been calling him an ‘RSS CM’,” Kavitha told ANI on Sunday.

Speaking at the housewarming ceremony of BRS leader Devulapally Pattabhi Ram in Khammam district, Kavitha also criticised the Congress-led state government over what she termed as administrative failure and negligence, particularly in responding to recent crop damage due to hailstorms.

“While the Congress party at the national level called for widespread protests, Revanth Reddy maintained complete silence and offered no reaction whatsoever,” she added, calling it evidence of “double standards and lack of commitment”.

She pointed out that despite the presence of the Deputy Chief Minister and two state ministers in Khammam, no official review had been conducted on the massive crop damage across the region.

“In Telangana, paddy fields were flooded, mango blossoms were lost, and yet, there has been no serious response or assessment from the government,” she said, adding that CM Reddy had not communicated even with revenue officials regarding the situation.

Kavitha demanded compensation of ₹20,000 per acre for affected farmers, calling it the bare minimum support needed.

She also highlighted alleged shortcomings in key welfare schemes, stating:

“More than half of the intended beneficiaries have not received the Rythu Bharosa financial assistance. The government is lying about having completed the farm loan waivers, as 60 per cent of eligible farmers are still waiting,” she claimed.

According to her, funds under the Aathmiya Bharosa scheme have also not been disbursed, and the state of government hospitals remains a concern, with many citizens hesitant to seek treatment due to their poor condition.

Kavitha accused the current ministers of being preoccupied with internal power dynamics instead of focusing on public welfare.

Recalling the achievements of the previous BRS government, she praised the construction of the Bhakta Ramadasu Project under former CM KCR, which she said brought irrigation to 60,000 acres.

“In the last 15 months, the Congress government has not even initiated a single new irrigation project,” she claimed.

Kavitha concluded her address by urging the public to join the upcoming BRS Rajatotsavam Sabha, stating it was time to show that citizens demand governance with action, not slogans.
