Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], July 4: The legendary quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC), hosted by Amitabh Bachchan, marked a monumental milestone on Thursday, completing 25 years since its first broadcast on July 3, 2000.

The show, adapted from the British format Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, quickly became a household name across India, launching not only a new era of television but also marking Amitabh Bachchan’s television debut, which revitalized his career.
As the 81-year-old icon prepares for the latest season of KBC, he shared an emotional message on social media and his blog, reflecting on the show’s remarkable journey.
“T 5430 – Today 3rd July, 2025, as I work on this year’s season KBC prep, I am told by the KBC team – 3rd July 2000, the first broadcast of KBC happened. 25 years, the life of KBC!” Bachchan posted on X.
In his blog, the veteran actor expressed surprise at the occasion, recalling how the day began like any other, only to be reminded by the team of the show’s silver jubilee.
“Didn’t even realise… and 25 years just went by,” he wrote, reminiscing about the show’s humble beginnings.
