Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], March 13: Karnataka Minister Ramalinga Reddy strongly criticized the BJP on Thursday, accusing them of “shameless” behavior for allegedly trying to politically target the Congress party, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar.
Commenting on the Nagamohan Das committee report submitted to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Reddy lashed out at the BJP, alleging that the party had looted the state during its four-year tenure in Karnataka.
“The BJP in Karnataka is shameless… During their time in power, they looted the state. Now, they want to demoralize the Congress, Siddaramaiah, and DK Shivakumar politically,” Reddy remarked.
He further stated that the report, compiled by former Karnataka High Court Judge Justice Nagamohan Das, would soon be presented to the state Cabinet. “Once the report reaches the Cabinet, the people will see who truly looted Karnataka,” Reddy added.
On Wednesday, Justice Nagamohan Das, a retired Karnataka High Court judge, submitted his report regarding allegations that the previous BJP government took a 40 percent commission on government contracts. Dated March 12, 2025, the report delves into allegations raised by the Karnataka State Contractors Association and examines the modernization estimates for sub/Slot canals 01 to 18 constructed across the Narayanpur right main canal.
The Contractors Association had filed a complaint alleging that a 40 percent commission was being charged on government tender works. The report also calls for an investigation into the practice of awarding contracts directly to contractors.
Highlighting the significance of public input on matters related to public works, the commission emphasized that it conducted a thorough investigation into the complaints received and produced a report with relevant suggestions and findings.
Additionally, the government has requested an investigation into all works carried out from July 26, 2019, to March 31, 2023, across five major state departments. The commission has selected a representative sample of works for investigation, considering a broad spectrum of departments, districts, and work types. The investigation involves file inspections, site visits, and account audits.
