Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], March 24: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar met veteran actress Shabana Azmi and legendary lyricist Javed Akhtar at his residence in Sadashivanagar on Monday. The Congress Karnataka Chief congratulated Azmi on receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 16th International Film Festival held in Bengaluru.
Shivakumar shared a picture of the meeting on his X account, accompanied by a message in Kannada. He wrote, “Renowned lyricist Javed Akhtar and veteran actress Shabana Azmi met me at my home today. I congratulated Shabana Azmi on being awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 16th International Film Festival. I had a cordial discussion with Akhtar.”
Earlier this month, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had honored Shabana Azmi with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award at the 16th International Film Festival in Bengaluru, with Javed Akhtar also in attendance.
Shabana Azmi, a five-time National Film Award winner, has received numerous accolades throughout her illustrious career, including the Padma Shri in 1988 and the Padma Bhushan in 2012. She is widely recognized for her outstanding performances in films like ‘Ankur,’ ‘Arth,’ ‘Khandhar,’ ‘Godmother,’ and ‘Paar.’
Azmi is currently gearing up for a pivotal role in the upcoming film Lahore 1947, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, which stars Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta. The film is produced under the banner of Aamir Khan Productions and marks their 17th production.
