Karisma Kapoor’s Children Allege Stepmother Forged Late Father’s Will

The legal fight over the estate of late businessman Sunjay Kapur intensified at the Delhi High Court on Monday, as his children from his marriage to actor Karisma Kapoor leveled serious accusations against their stepmother, Priya Sachdev Kapur, who is Sunjay’s widow.

Sunjay Kapur, the former head of Sona Comstar, passed away in London in June following a heart attack. He was married to Karisma Kapoor from 2003 to 2016, and later married Priya Sachdev in 2017.

Samara and Kiaan Slam Stepmother in Court

Samara and Kiaan have filed a lawsuit against Priya Sachdev, accusing her of forging their late father’s will to exclude them from his assets. Karisma Kapoor is representing her children in this case, although she is not a plaintiff herself.

During Monday’s hearing, Senior Advocate Mahesh Jethmalani, appearing for Kiaan and Samara, argued that the alleged will contains “glaring errors and blunders” which strongly suggest that “it is not a will which Sunjay Kapur had prepared, read or made.”

Jethmalani highlighted shocking mistakes within the document, including misspelling his son Kiaan’s name in multiple places and listing the wrong address for his daughter Samara.

“He had a very good relationship with his children. How can he have written his daughter’s address wrong and misspelled his son’s name in multiple places in the will? This will demeans the late Sunjay Kapoor. It is so casual,” Jethmalani asserted on behalf of Samara and Kiaan.

The Forgery Allegation

The counsel representing the children then made a direct accusation, claiming that there was no proof that anyone other than the stepmother, Priya Sachdev Kapur, had prepared the will.

“Only one person was given the benefits,” the counsel said, adding, “If this will is a forgery, then only one person could have forged it,” implying that Priya Sachdev had done so to prevent future challenges to the estate.

This legal confrontation follows earlier court proceedings on October 9, where Samara and Kiaan had emotionally described Priya as “Cinderella’s evil stepmother” while accusing her of greed.

Previously, on September 26, the court had allowed Priya Kapur to submit a list of Sunjay’s assets in a sealed cover. It also suggested that the parties involved in the property dispute should avoid sharing details with the media.

The court is scheduled to continue hearing the matter tomorrow.
