Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India]: Filmmaker Karan Johar has announced his latest project, which will introduce a new director under his banner Dharma Productions. While the film’s title remains undisclosed, Johar expressed his pride, calling it his ‘proudest film’ to date.
In an emotional note, Karan reflected on his journey as a producer since 2003, starting with Kal Ho Naa Ho.
“When I began producing films… the idea was to empower filmmakers and storytellers…to pay it forward. We got it right…we got it wrong but the intent was always to put out stories and films we believed in.”
Taking a swipe at critics who accuse him of favoring star kids, Karan highlighted his commitment to nurturing talent.
“I am so proud to say that our next offering is the 24th debutant filmmaker we have introduced to Hindi cinema! (Trivia for trollers: 90% of them are ‘outsiders’).”
He further praised the new director’s dedication, acknowledging the challenges faced during the pandemic and other unforeseen circumstances.
“The director did nothing else but put his head down and work relentlessly on his film… This film is one of Dharma’s proudest films. I say this as a filmmaker and an audience.”
While fans eagerly await more details about the film, Karan’s heartfelt message has heightened excitement.
Meanwhile, Dharma Productions recently expanded into regional cinema with its debut Punjabi film titled Akaal.
