American rapper Kanye ‘Ye’ West has once again landed in hot water after a viral video surfaced showing him making inflammatory remarks about Palestine and social media activism. In the clip, Ye suggests that people speaking out about Palestine were “programmed” and also accuses them of being the same people who voted against former President Donald Trump.
In the video, Kanye is heard saying, “You nig* don’t know about Palestine, you don’t give a f*** about it. The media made you give a f*** about it, and it’s shit that you just put up on your motherf**in timeline.”
This latest rant comes in the wake of Kanye’s previous controversies, including a series of anti-Semitic posts and the glorification of Adolf Hitler on social media, which drew condemnation across the entertainment industry and beyond.
On the Work Front
Kanye is also under fire for his recent performance in Shanghai, where fans expressed disappointment over delays and lackluster delivery.
“Was hard to get tix for him in Shanghai but got it. Was hyped af. Couldn’t even sleep night before. But. Worst concert I’ve ever been to. @kanyewest u can be better,” a fan wrote after Ye appeared nearly 40 minutes late to the show — his first in China in 17 years.
Another attendee said, “Mostly lip synching. His microphone must have been up less than 20 per cent of the time. For the encore, he disappeared for over 20 minutes at one point as tracks like Wolves just played out with him nowhere in sight. I could have just played your music at home man. Came to see u perform????”
Legal Troubles
Kanye is also facing serious allegations from his former assistant, Lauren Pisciotta. In an amended lawsuit, she has accused the rapper of sexual assault, battery, stalking, and even sex trafficking. A spokesperson for West has denied all allegations.
As Kanye continues to dominate headlines for all the wrong reasons, critics say his recent comments and erratic behavior are further damaging his credibility both as an artist and public figure.
