Washington [US], April 12: Kanye West has publicly apologized to longtime friend and collaborator Jay-Z for controversial comments he made about the rapper’s children, Rumi and Sir Carter, both aged 7.
The apology follows backlash over a now-deleted tweet from March 2023 in which West questioned the mental abilities of Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s twins. The post sparked outrage and drew sharp responses from the Carter family.
As reported by E! News, West addressed the issue in a late-night social media post, writing, “I’m sorry Jay Z. I be feeling bad about my tweet but I still feel I gave my life to this industry and thought so many people were my family. But when I needed family on some real s–t none of these rap n—-s had my back.”
The insensitive remarks were met with a subtle but pointed response from Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles, who took to Instagram with a humorous jab. While on the set of a photoshoot for her upcoming book, the 71-year-old shared a joke: “What happens when a snowman throws a tantrum? He has a meltdown. Y’all know that’s funny.” Her playful tone hinted at her disapproval of the incident.
Beyoncé’s father, Mathew Knowles, responded more sternly in an interview with TMZ, expressing concern over Kanye’s mental health. “People pay a price for being stupid,” he said, adding, “I’m hopeful Kanye gets the type of help he needs.”
Kanye West has been at the center of several controversies in recent years, known for his polarizing views and social media outbursts. His latest apology adds to a long list of public disputes, including a revived feud with pop star Taylor Swift.
In a deleted tweet, West blamed Swift for allegedly being the reason he was never invited to perform at the Super Bowl Halftime Show. He cited three controversial moments that he believes led to his exclusion: “George Bush don’t care about Black people,” the infamous incident with Taylor Swift, and his decision to wear a MAGA hat.
“How it feel to be the best living and blocked from the main stage because of being ahead of my time?” West wrote, suggesting that his forward-thinking mindset has cost him major career opportunities.
