Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India]: The highly anticipated prequel to Kantara has been officially confirmed for release on October 2, 2025, putting an end to all speculation about potential delays.
Rumors of postponement had been circulating on social media, but Hombale Films took to Instagram on Wednesday to clear the air. The production house reassured fans with a strong statement:
“???????? Doubts. ???????? delays. The legendary saga, #KantaraChapter1 unfolds on October 2nd, 2025.”
Actor Rishab Shetty, who has been deeply involved in the making of Kantara: Chapter 1, recently shared a glimpse of his rigorous training for the film. In an Instagram post, Shetty was seen intensely focused during a Kalaripayattu session, showcasing his dedication to the role. He kept the caption minimal, adding just a heart-shaped emoticon.
Shetty, who wrote and directed Kantara, previously won the prestigious National Award for Best Actor. The film, released in 2022, became a pan-India blockbuster.
On receiving the National Award, he told ANI:
“This has been possible because of my entire team. I am just the face of the film; it is all because of their hard work. The production house, the DOP, the technicians—it is all because of them.”
He also expressed his gratitude to his fans, saying:
“I want to thank the people of Karnataka. I want to thank the National Awards panel for recognizing this film. The people have made this film a hit, and I am very happy. I want to dedicate this win to the people of Karnataka.”
Set in the fictional village of Dakshina Kannada, Kantara followed Shetty’s character, a Kambala champion who clashed with an upright Forest Range officer. The film also won the National Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment.
With Kantara: Chapter 1 now confirmed for release, fans can look forward to another cinematic masterpiece from Rishab Shetty and Hombale Films.
