Kangana Ranaut Slams Kunal Kamra Over Remarks Against Maharashtra Deputy CM Eknath Shinde

New Delhi [India], March 25: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP and Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut has criticized stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra for his alleged disparaging comments about Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.

Speaking to the media, Ranaut addressed the demolition of her office by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) in 2020, comparing it to Kamra’s recent remarks. The actress clarified that while her office demolition was “illegal,” Kamra’s actions were a matter of “legal action.” She also expressed concerns over Kamra’s mocking attitude, emphasizing that disrespecting individuals for “2 minutes of fame” was inappropriate. “Who are these people, and what are their credentials?” she questioned, further raising concerns about the direction society is headed.

Ranaut also commented on Shinde’s personal journey, noting that despite starting as a rickshaw driver, he has come a long way in his political career. She condemned Kamra for defaming people in the name of comedy, questioning his contribution to society.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also criticized Kamra’s remarks. He stated that while stand-up comedy is a form of free expression, it should not be used to defame individuals. Fadnavis demanded an apology from Kamra, underlining that humor should not cross boundaries or harm others’ reputations. He also drew parallels between Kamra and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, mocking Kamra for displaying the red Constitution book, a move also associated with Gandhi.

Fadnavis also reminded the public of the electoral mandate in Maharashtra, highlighting the defeat of those who had insulted the political ideology of Balasaheb Thackeray and the people’s rejection of so-called traitors.

Kamra’s remarks came in the form of a comedy video titled “Naya Bharat,” in which he targeted Indian political figures, including those in Maharashtra, offering a satirical take on the political landscape.
