Kangana Ranaut Condemns SP MP’s Remarks On Rana Sanga, Calls For Apology

New Delhi [India], March 28: BJP leader and actress Kangana Ranaut strongly condemned Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Ramji Lal Suman for his controversial remarks on 16th-century Rajput king Rana Sanga, calling the Rajput warrior a symbol of self-respect and freedom.

“Rana Sanga is a symbol of self-respect and freedom. These are the warriors because of whom we exist today… Our freedom fighters are part of our great heritage, so insulting them like this and running an agenda against them is very wrong. I feel that those who have done this should apologise,” Ranaut told reporters outside Parliament premises.

Controversy Over Rana Sanga Remarks

  • SP MP Ramji Lal Suman sparked controversy by calling Rana Sanga a “traitor”, alleging that he had invited Mughal emperor Babur to defeat Ibrahim Lodi.
  • His remarks led to violent protests outside his residence in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, with unidentified individuals resorting to stone-pelting, vandalism, and smashing window panes.

Political Reactions & Police Action

  • Agra ACP Sanjeev Tyagi confirmed that members of Karni Sena were among the protesters.
  • Several police officers were injured in the clashes, and multiple individuals have been taken into custody.

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav alleged that Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath was aware of and consented to the attack.

“The incident with Ramji Lal Suman is sad and should be condemned. He is a senior Dalit MP, and his residence was attacked while the CM was in the district. This attack happened with his consent,” Yadav claimed.

The controversy continues to spark debate, with demands for an apology from Suman and political blame games intensifying.
