Kangana Ranaut Backs Government’s Ban On 25 OTT Platforms

India’s capital, New Delhi- Kangana Ranaut, an actor who is also a politician, strongly backed the Central government’s recent decision to restrict 25 Over-The-Top (OTT) services on Friday. The BJP MP from Mandi said that the measure was necessary to keep “the society from heading toward a complete downfall” and to preserve the youth of the country.

Kangana Ranaut’s response comes after the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting ordered the blocking of certain OTT platforms because they were said to be releasing filthy, vulgar, and even pornographic material.

“The ban is in place to protect our culture and the minds of young people from being corrupted. It’s crucial to remember that our civilization isn’t going to completely come apart. “It was long-awaited,” Kangana Ranaut told the ANI news agency, showing how strongly she believed the government needed to act.

Government’s Attack on Unacceptable Content
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting took action after finding that several OTT platforms were sharing content that broke Indian law in a number of ways. Some of the platforms that were cited in reports are Ullu, ALTT, Big Shots App, NeonX VIP, and Desiflix.

The government has told intermediaries to turn off 14 mobile apps and 26 websites. This is in accordance with the Information Technology (IT) Act, 2000, and the IT (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021. This broad action shows that the government is taking a tougher stand against digital content that is thought to be illegal or undesirable.

Other Voices Back the Ban
Kangana Ranaut is not the only one who is happy with this choice. Actor and fellow Member of Parliament Ravi Kishan and other public personalities have also supported the restriction, saying that it’s important to impose limits on digital entertainment.

Ravi Kishan told media that “the government’s decision was important for India’s culture.” He went on to explain his worries regarding the material on these sites: “Licensed and unlicensed OTT platforms have been making soft porn and obscene films.” This is a very good choice. There is a “Laxman Rekha” for fun.

The government’s approach and the support from public personalities like Ranaut and Kishan show that there is a growing debate in India about how to regulate content on internet platforms while still protecting children and respecting cultural differences.
