Mumbai (Maharashtra), February 28: Bollywood actor-politician Kangana Ranaut and veteran lyricist Javed Akhtar have successfully resolved their five-year-long defamation case. The two made the announcement on Friday via Instagram, sharing the news that they had reached a resolution through mediation.

Kangana posted a picture with Javed Akhtar from the court, expressing her gratitude towards him for being “kind and gracious” during the mediation process. She wrote, “Today, Javed ji and I have resolved our legal matter (defamation case) through mediation. In the mediation, Javed Ji has been very kind and gracious. He also agreed to write songs for my next directorial.”
The picture showed both Kangana and Akhtar smiling as they posed together, signaling a positive end to their legal battle.
The defamation case stemmed from comments Kangana made in 2020, which reportedly involved Javed Akhtar in a feud with actor Hrithik Roshan. Akhtar filed a criminal defamation complaint against her, which led to a counter-complaint from Kangana.
On the professional front, Kangana is currently working on a new project that reunites her with her Tanu Weds Manu co-star R Madhavan. The two actors, who previously worked together in the popular romantic comedy series, will now collaborate again on a psychological thriller. This announcement follows the release of her film Emergency, in which she portrayed former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
Meanwhile, Javed Akhtar’s recent work includes the docuseries Angry Young Men, which explores his creative partnership with Salim Khan.
