NEW DELHI, INDIA — BJP MP Kangana Ranaut has made a strong attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, saying he has a “anti-India mindset.” A day after the Supreme Court harshly rebuked Gandhi for his contentious comments concerning the Indian military forces and the India-China border conflicts, she spoke out.
“Rahul Gandhi always talks badly about India, whether it’s about the economy or the military. He talks about how bad enemy countries are. “Ranaut said he has an anti-India mindset.”
Ranaut was happy with the Supreme Court’s involvement, calling it a “welcome move” and a “warning” to others. Kangana said that the judiciary’s strong position should remind public personalities to “be careful not to hurt India’s honor, integrity, and morale.”
Strong Words from the Supreme Court
The Supreme Court criticized Rahul Gandhi while he was on trial for a criminal defamation case. Justices Dipankar Datta and Augustine George Masih were distressed about how credible Gandhi’s assertions were during the Congress’s “Bharat Jodo Yatra” on December 16, 2022.
Gandhi said that “China took over 2,000 square kilometers of Indian land, killed 20 Indian soldiers, and beat up our soldiers in Arunachal Pradesh.” Justice Datta then said, “How do you know that China took over 2,000 square kilometers of Indian land?” What is the reliable information? You wouldn’t say this if there was a fight between India and another country. “Can you say all of this?”
The bench also wanted to know why Gandhi opted to make such sensitive comments on social media and at a public rally instead of bringing them up in Parliament. “Why don’t you say what you have to say in the Parliament?” Why do you have to say this in your posts on social media? Justice Datta asked.
The Court’s comments came at the same time that it gave Gandhi temporary relief by stopping the criminal case in the defamation case that was going on in a Lucknow court.
What the Comments Were About
The things Rahul Gandhi said in late 2022 were about the fight between Indian and Chinese troops in the Tawang area of Arunachal Pradesh on December 9, 2022. The Ministry of Defence said at the time that there had been a “physical scuffle” but that Indian soldiers had “firmly and resolutely” stopped the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) from entering Indian territory. There were no deaths or significant injuries on the Indian side.
The BJP quickly condemned Gandhi’s comments at the time, and the Supreme Court’s current critique has given the party a new chance to criticize the Congress leader on national security issues.
