Kamala Harris Blasts Biden’s Re-election Bid As “Recklessness” in New Memoir

In an explosive new memoir titled 107 Days, former Vice President Kamala Harris offers a no-holds-barred look at her time in the White House and her brief 2024 presidential campaign. In an excerpt published by The Atlantic, Harris called the decision to allow then-President Joe Biden to seek a second term “recklessness,” arguing that the stakes were simply too high to leave the choice to an individual’s “ego” and “ambition.”

The book’s title refers to the 107-day period of her presidential campaign, the shortest in modern U.S. history, which began when Biden withdrew from the race in July 2024. Biden’s decision came after a disastrous debate performance against Donald Trump that intensified concerns about his age and mental acuity. In her memoir, Harris acknowledged that at 81, Biden “got tired” and that his age “showed in physical and verbal stumbles.” However, she defended his overall capacity, stating that “on his worst day, he was more deeply knowledgeable, more capable of exercising judgment, and far more compassionate than Donald Trump on his best.”

Harris also used the book to air her frustrations with the Biden White House team, accusing them of a “zero-sum” mentality where her success was seen as a threat to the president. She claims that his inner circle “rarely” defended her against attacks from outlets like Fox News, which labeled her a “DEI hire.” Furthermore, she writes that they were displeased when she delivered a well-received March 2024 speech on the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, saying she was “castigated for, apparently, delivering it too well.”

The book, which is set to be released on September 23, 2025, also details her disappointment that Biden scarcely mentioned her during his televised address announcing his withdrawal and endorsement, waiting until almost nine minutes into the 11-minute speech to mention her name. 107 Days is being marketed as a candid account of her experience, and the initial excerpts have already stirred up considerable conversation, fueling speculation about her political future and a potential 2028 presidential bid.
