July 24, 2025: Kamal Haasan, a superstar, has given Fahadh Faasil’s new movie, “Maareesan,” a glowing review, saying that the crew made a “socially apt film.” His praise comes at a time when the movie, which also stars veteran actor Vadivelu, is getting a lot of attention. This is partially because fans are still arguing about who is the better actor, Haasan or Faasil.
Actor Haasan wrote a detailed review of “Maareesan” on his X (previously Twitter) account. He praised the directors for using humor to hide deep “human emotions” and the “dark shadows” of society.
Haasan wrote, “I watched Maareesan, a movie that easily moves between humor and profundity, making me laugh, contemplate, and admire its workmanship. I had a great talk with the staff to thank them for making this great thing. Underneath its humor is a socially aware look at human feeling and a sharp look at the darker sides of our society. The kind of creative, lively movies that I naturally want to watch and make.
Sudheesh Shankar directed “Maareesan,” which stars Fahadh Faasil as a clever burglar who wants to trick Vadivelu into giving him money. The story gets more complicated when Faasil’s character, who is trying to earn trust and collect money without using violence, finds out that his target, an old man played by Vadivelu, has Alzheimer’s disease and has forgotten his ATM pin and even how to get home.
The two-minute and six-second teaser starts off with a thoughtful tone, showing Fahadh’s character being fascinated by how a fish and a crane hunt each other in nature. But the story rapidly changes when he sees Vadivelu, who is on his way to Thiruvannamalai with a lot of money. This sets the scenario for an unexpected adventure full of twists and turns that will make you feel a lot of things.
Kovai Sarala, Vivek Prasanna, Sithara, P. L. Thenappan, Livingston, Renuka, Saravana Subbaiah, Krishna, Haritha, and Telephone Raja are also in the movie in supporting roles. Yuvan Shankar Raja wrote the music for the movie, Kalaiselvan Sivaji shot it, and Sreejith Sarang edited it.
R. B. Choudary makes “Maareesan” under his Super Good Films label. V. Krishna Moorthy wrote the story, screenplay, and dialogue, and he also directed the film’s artistic direction.
Haasan’s support, especially as he is often likened to Faasil as a “method actor,” is likely to greatly increase the film’s reach and reception. This adds to the excitement around its premiere in theaters on July 25.
