Kalaburagi (Karnataka) [India]: In a major crackdown on job fraud, the Kalaburagi police have busted a fake government job scam, arresting fraudsters who duped job seekers by issuing counterfeit appointment letters.
The scam came to light after the Deputy Commissioner’s (DC) office filed a complaint regarding the circulation of fake government appointment orders on social media. The case was registered at the Cyber Economic and Narcotics (CEN) police station under crime number 2/25, invoking cheating and IT offense sections.
Key Details of the Scam
🔹 Arrests & Investigation:
- A dedicated police team tracked the accused to Pune, where they initially managed to escape.
- They were later apprehended in Solapur and brought back to Kalaburagi for interrogation.
🔹 Modus Operandi:
- Fraudsters targeted job seekers, issuing fake appointment letters for government positions.
- Over the last six months, they duped 11 innocent job seekers, collecting approximately ₹14.55 lakh.
- Victims were threatened with false police cases if they reported the scam.
🔹 Recoveries Made by Police:
- Fake appointment letters
- Seven bank accounts linked to the fraud
- Two mobile phones & two SIM cards
- ₹47,000 in cash

SP A Srinivasulu stated, “A case has been registered based on a complaint from the DC office regarding fake job orders. The accused initially escaped from Pune, but we caught them in Solapur and recovered fake appointment letters. Further investigation is ongoing, and we expect to uncover more details soon.”
The police investigation continues, and authorities warn job seekers to verify appointment letters before making any payments. Officials urge the public to report suspicious job offers to prevent further scams.
