New Delhi [India], April 19: Celebrated singer and Padma Shri awardee Kailash Kher lit up the stage with a soul-stirring live performance at the grand launch of the Bhagva app in the national capital on Friday evening. Backed by his band Kailasa, the artist performed a medley of his most iconic songs, including fan-favorites like “Bam Lahiri” and “Yuhin Chala Chal” from Swades.
While speaking to ANI at the event, Kher shared his thoughts on the changing landscape of contemporary music and why it often lacks emotional depth.
“These days, people want everything fast—happiness, peace, fun—and they want it quickly. I don’t understand this formula… Peace never comes in a hurry,” Kher said, commenting on the fast-paced, instant-gratification culture impacting music today.
He added,
“Thode intellectuals badal gaye hain. Woh apni duniya chala rahe hain… Jaldi-jaldi kuch bhi likh rahe hain. Bina sar-pair ki koi baat likh rahe hain.”
(“Some of the intellectuals have changed; they are writing things without meaning or connection,”)
Reflecting on the past, he said,
“Earlier, there was art and simplicity. When it was presented like a craft, it touched people’s hearts.”
