New Delhi [India], January 30: Kailash Gahlot, BJP candidate from Bijwasan, has sharply criticized the AAP government for its failure to resolve the ongoing water crisis in Delhi, despite repeated promises made during the 2015 and 2020 assembly elections.
Speaking to ANI, Gahlot questioned AAP’s governance model, highlighting the continued lack of progress in providing water connections to every household. He pointed to areas like Bijwasan, Najafgarh, Mehrauli, and Palam as examples where water scarcity remains a persistent issue.
“I want to ask AAP and Arvind Kejriwal, what model of governance have they implemented in Delhi? It is embarrassing, not just for Delhi but for the entire nation. AAP promised in 2015 and again in 2020 to provide water connections to every household. Now, in 2025, people are still grappling with the same water crisis,” Gahlot said.
He further cited reports from the Delhi government indicating that 40% of the water supply is being wasted. “What steps has the AAP government taken to address this wastage?” Gahlot demanded.
The BJP leader also criticized AAP for frequently shifting blame to others, including the central government, the Lieutenant Governor, and neighboring states, whenever they fail to deliver on promises.
“Whenever they fail to deliver, they start blaming everyone else. But this time, the people of Delhi have made up their minds. The BJP government will form the next government here,” Gahlot added.
As the Delhi Assembly elections on February 5 draw closer, political tensions are rising, with AAP, BJP, and Congress all campaigning intensely. In the 2020 elections, AAP secured 62 out of 70 seats, while BJP won only 8 seats. Congress, which previously governed Delhi for 15 years, has struggled in recent elections, failing to win any seats.
