Mumbai [India], June 28: Actor and model Shefali Jariwala, best known as the “Kaanta Laga girl,” has passed away at the age of 42 following a sudden cardiac arrest, according to reports. Shefali was rushed to Bellevue Hospital in Mumbai by her husband, actor Parag Tyagi, along with three others. However, she was declared dead on arrival.

The news of her death was first shared by journalist Vickey Lalwani on social media. Lalwani posted, “Shefali Jariwala, the Kaanta Laga girl, is no more… She was brought dead to Bellevue Multispeciality Hospital (opposite Star Bazaar Andheri) about 45 minutes ago.” Hospital reception staff confirmed to the journalist that Shefali had expired before arriving at the hospital. When asked for more details, Dr Vijay Lulla, a cardiologist at the hospital, declined to comment, citing patient confidentiality.
Dr Sushant, another doctor at Bellevue, confirmed the news and stated that Shefali’s body was being sent to Cooper Hospital for post-mortem examination.
Shefali’s husband Parag Tyagi has yet to release a statement or comment publicly on his wife’s passing. He was spotted by paparazzi leaving the hospital visibly distressed.
Shefali Jariwala gained nationwide fame at 20 years old after starring in the music video for the remix of “Kaanta Laga,” originally a 1972 hit song from Dharmendra and Asha Parekh’s film Samadhi. The music video turned her into a household name. Over the years, Shefali appeared in several music albums and films but continued to be remembered as the iconic “Kaanta Laga girl.” In 2020, she participated in Salman Khan’s reality show Bigg Boss.
