K. Kavitha Quits BRS And MLC Post, Calling Suspension A “Painful” Betrayal

In a dramatic turn of events, K. Kavitha has officially resigned from her position as a Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) and from the primary membership of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) party. The announcement comes just one day after the BRS suspended her for what it called “anti-party activities.”

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Kavitha stated, “I am resigning from the MLC position and the party’s primary membership.” She confirmed that she is sending her resignation letters to the Speaker and to her father, BRS chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR).

A Family Affair and a Political Parting

Kavitha described her suspension as “very painful,” a sentiment that was clearly emotional. However, she was quick to draw a line between her political life and her family. She emphasized that her relationship with her father, KCR, and her brother, KT Rama Rao (KTR), is a bond “bound by blood.”

“This bond should not break over reasons like suspension from the party or losing posts,” she said, adding a pointed accusation: “Some people want our family to disintegrate for their personal and political growth.”

The BRS had announced her suspension on Tuesday, alleging that her “recent attitude and anti-party activities” had been hurting the party’s interests. The move followed a series of public comments made by Kavitha, where she openly criticized some senior BRS leaders, including her cousin and former minister T. Harish Rao, and former MP J. Santosh Kumar, in connection with the Kaleshwaram project.

While Kavitha has not announced her next political move, she stated that she would consult with the members of her cultural organization, Telangana Jagruti, before deciding on her future steps.
