K Annamalai Labels CM Stalin’s All-Party Meeting On Delimitation As “Funniest,” Accuses Him Of Spreading Imaginary Fears

Tamil Nadu BJP President K Annamalai has termed the all-party meeting called by Chief Minister MK Stalin on the issue of delimitation as the “funniest,” arguing that the discussion will have no impact on the common man. Annamalai dismissed the concerns raised over the southern states being disadvantaged by the delimitation process, calling them “imaginary.”

“The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister has called for an all-party meeting. Now, this is the funniest all-party meeting because nobody knows what the agenda is. Even when you go to a marriage, you will know the person who is getting married. But in this case, CM has called for an all-party meeting on an imaginary issue. It only shows his fear,” Annamalai told reporters.

The all-party meeting, scheduled for March 5, will address the issue of delimitation. However, the BJP has decided to boycott the meeting, accusing CM Stalin of misconstruing the delimitation process and spreading “imaginary fears.” Annamalai argued that Union Home Minister Amit Shah had already clarified that the delimitation would be done on a pro-rata basis.

“He (Chief Minister Stalin) is not discussing any issue that is affecting the common man. He wants to talk about arbitrary issues. No central government representative has spoken about delimitation. In fact, Amit Shah Ji has clearly spoken that it is on a pro rata basis,” Annamalai said.

Annamalai also refuted the notion that Tamil Nadu would lose seats under the new delimitation process. “Our Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, has said it is not based on population, not on the Congress model. They assume that it is based on population. Who said 848 seats? CM assumes 848 seats. Who said Tamil Nadu is losing 12? With this imaginary fear, he is calling for an all-party meeting without an agenda. Why should we waste our time attending that meeting when you have already clarified when the (Union) Home Minister has clarified? So Tamil Nadu’s CM has to rise above this petty politics,” he added.

The DMK, led by Stalin, has expressed concerns that the delimitation, which will be based on the upcoming census population count, could reduce the number of Lok Sabha seats for southern states, putting them at a disadvantage.

Meanwhile, K Annamalai chaired a core committee meeting at the BJP office in Chennai on Tuesday for preparations ahead of the Tamil Nadu state assembly elections in 2026. He also announced that Union Home Minister Amit Shah would visit Tamil Nadu in two days, suggesting significant political changes could be on the horizon.

The next Tamil Nadu Assembly election is expected to take place in April-May 2026.
