Washington DC [US], July 5 : Actor Julian McMahon, renowned for roles in Nip/Tuck, Charmed, FBI: Most Wanted, and as Doctor Doom in the 2000s Fantastic Four films, has passed away in Florida following a battle with cancer, Deadline reported. He was 56.
McMahon’s wife, Kelly McMahon, confirmed his passing in a heartfelt statement, sharing that he died peacefully and celebrated his love for life, family, friends, work, and fans. She asked for privacy as the family grieves and encouraged those touched by Julian to continue finding joy in life.
Born in Australia, McMahon was the son of former Australian Prime Minister Billy McMahon. He started his career as a model before debuting as an actor in the Australian soap The Power, the Passion (1989). His feature film debut came in 1992’s Wet and Wild Summer! opposite Elliott Gould.
After moving to Hollywood, McMahon appeared in NBC’s Another World and later starred in Profiler. His breakthrough came with his role as the demon Cole Turner on the WB’s popular supernatural series Charmed.
He achieved international fame starring as Dr. Christian Troy in FX’s acclaimed drama Nip/Tuck, before taking on the role of the iconic villain Doctor Doom in Fantastic Four (2005) and its 2007 sequel.
His filmography includes Premonition, RED, Paranoia, You’re Not You, Swinging Safari, and The Surfer, which premiered at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival. His final role was as the Australian Prime Minister in Netflix’s murder mystery series The Residence.
