Hyderabad (Telangana), January 18: The Nandamuri family gathered at NTR Ghat in Hyderabad on January 18 to commemorate the 29th death anniversary of legendary actor and former Chief Minister of united Andhra Pradesh, Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR).
Actor Jr NTR, the grandson of NTR, along with key family members, including TDP leader Nandamuri Balakrishna, offered heartfelt tributes to the iconic figure, whose legacy continues to shape both the Telugu film industry and Indian politics.
In his tribute, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu praised NTR as a visionary who brought prosperity to the poor, empowered women, and championed social justice. “NTR proved that power means an opportunity to change the lives of the poor. Let us achieve the egalitarian society he envisioned,” said Naidu.
TDP General Secretary Nara Lokesh also expressed admiration, describing NTR as the embodiment of Telugu culture and a symbol of self-respect and social justice. “NTR was not just a name; he was a sensation,” he said.
Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao, who served as Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh for seven years, passed away on January 18, 1996, at the age of 72. His contributions to both film and politics remain deeply embedded in the region’s history.
