JP Nadda Reaffirms Commitment To AIDS Prevention And Support On World AIDS Day

Indore (Madhya Pradesh) [India]: On World AIDS Day 2024, Union Minister and BJP National President JP Nadda highlighted the importance of commitment to AIDS prevention and improving the lives of those living with HIV. Speaking at the National Event for World AIDS Day in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, he emphasized the need for greater understanding of the challenges faced by individuals with HIV, urging society to develop sensitivity towards their struggles and protect their human rights.

“The enthusiasm in this program reflects a strong commitment not only to prevent AIDS but also to make the lives of those suffering from HIV more meaningful. I urge everyone to understand their situation, develop compassion, and ensure their human rights are protected,” Nadda said.

He continued, “We must send the message today and throughout the year that we are committed to protecting the human rights of people with HIV, ensuring their safety, and treating them with dignity.”

Meanwhile, the World Health Organization (WHO) also marked World AIDS Day by calling for a global commitment to the fight against HIV, urging rights-based healthcare for all. WHO’s Regional Director for Southeast Asia, Saima Wazed, stressed the importance of addressing inequalities that hinder progress in fighting HIV and achieving the goal of ending AIDS by 2030.

Wazed emphasized the need for a rights-based approach to healthcare, ensuring that people living with HIV have access to the necessary medical care without facing stigma or discrimination. WHO urged leaders worldwide to prioritize equitable healthcare and support the dignity and autonomy of those at higher risk of HIV. The theme for this year’s World AIDS Day was “Take the Rights Path: My Health, My Right!” highlighting the importance of accessible healthcare for all.
