JP Nadda Chairs BJP General Secretaries’ Meet Amid Rising Indo-Pak Tensions and Organisational Elections

New Delhi [India]: As India grapples with heightened tensions following the recent Pahalgam terror attack, Union Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President Jagat Prakash Nadda convened a crucial meeting with the party’s general secretaries on Monday at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi.

The meeting was attended by eight senior party leaders, including Tarun Chugh, Arun Singh, Vinod Tawde, Dushyant Gautam, Shiv Prakash Shukla, Sunil Bansal, and B L Santosh.

The high-level gathering comes at a significant juncture for the party, which has recently kicked off its internal organisational elections across the country. With Nadda’s extended term nearing its end, the BJP is in the process of identifying a new party president.

Discussions during the meeting focused on upcoming organisational events, public rallies, and political campaigns. Sources also indicated that the recent Pahalgam attack and its political implications were key points of deliberation, as the party strategizes its narrative and national response.

Preparation for the upcoming Bihar assembly elections, scheduled later this year, was also on the agenda, with leaders reportedly evaluating ground-level feedback and campaign plans.

Later in the evening, Nadda is scheduled to visit Kevadia in Gujarat to pay floral tributes at the Statue of Unity, a memorial dedicated to India’s first Deputy Prime Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

The BJP posted on X (formerly Twitter): “BJP National President and Union Minister Shri @JPNadda will pay floral tribute to the statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel ji (Statue of Unity) at Kevadia, Gujarat on 5 May.”

Tensions between India and Pakistan have surged since the April 22 terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, which claimed 26 lives. In response, the Modi government has adopted a firm posture, granting the armed forces operational autonomy and placing the Indus Waters Treaty in abeyance. The series of moves underscores New Delhi’s intent to hold Islamabad accountable for its continued support of cross-border terrorism.
