On December 13, John Cena, a 17-time world champion and WWE legend, will wrestle his last bout as part of Saturday Night’s Main Event in Washington, D.C.
WWE, which is part of TKO Group Holdings, and Events DC, which is the official convention and sports authority for the nation’s capital, announced today that John Cena’s last match will be the main event of Saturday Night’s Main Event on Saturday, December 13, at Monumental Sports & Entertainment’s Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C.
This last battle ends Cena’s year-long farewell tour, which included stops at WrestleMania 41 and SummerSlam. He has won 17 World Championships, five US Championships, and two Royal Rumble matches. His retirement is a momentous event for WWE fans all around the world.
Angie M. Gates, President and CEO of Events DC, remarked, “Washington, D.C. is the Sports Capital and the perfect place to honor John Cena’s amazing legacy.” “We’re excited to welcome WWE fans from our city and all over the world to see an unforgettable final showdown in our nation’s capital.” We really value our connection with WWE and can’t wait to provide fans an event they’ll remember for the rest of their lives.
Cena has had an amazing year at 48, combining his skills in the ring, his philanthropic work, and the fact that he has been in the business for so long. His retirement tour started in February at the Royal Rumble, where he came in second to Jey Uso.
He later had a chance to fight for the WWE Undisputed Championship at Elimination Chamber, where he beat Cody Rhodes to win his 17th global title, breaking the record. Cena defended his title against former opponents Randy Orton and CM Punk on the tour. He lost the title back to Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam in August.
After that, Cena fought in big matches, like a fast-paced encounter with Logan Paul at the Clash in Paris event and then lost to Brock Lesnar at Wrestlepalooza in September. His farewell tour has given him the chance to meet both old rivals and new talent.
Next up for Cena is a fight with AJ Styles, another well-known opponent, at the Crown Jewel event in Perth on October 11. This will be part of his historic retirement journey.
