Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], February 28: The soulful song ‘Naina’ from John Abraham’s upcoming film The Diplomat: A Gentle Pause has been unveiled. The track, which is available on T-Series’ YouTube channel, is sung by Varun Jain, Romy, and Saikia, with the music composed by Anurag Saikia. The heartfelt lyrics are penned by Kausar Munir, adding a special magic to the song.
John Abraham explained what attracted him to the film, describing it as an “emotional, on-the-edge psychological thriller” rather than just a patriotic narrative. He likened The Diplomat to the film Argo, a true story about the US Embassy in Iran, saying, “It’s like Argo, and if you watch that film, it’s a true story about the US Embassy in Iran and how they had to get people out. You’ll just be glued to your seat. That feeling is what I got from The Diplomat.”
He also emphasized that The Diplomat isn’t a typical India-Pakistan story, urging audiences to view it from a “humanitarian angle.”
Directed by Shivam Nair, The Diplomat stars John Abraham as JP Singh, a skilled diplomat engaged in a high-stakes mission. The film is an intense political thriller that highlights negotiation and intellect over violence and war.
Elaborating on the plot, director Nair revealed that the film is based on a real-life incident involving Uzma, a woman from Delhi who became trapped in Pakistan after a work-related issue in Malaysia.
The Diplomat, initially set to release on March 7, will now hit theaters on March 14, coinciding with the Holi weekend. Produced by Bhushan Kumar & Krishan Kumar (T-Series), John Abraham (JA Entertainment), Vipul D. Shah, Ashwin Varde, Rajesh Bahl (Wakaoo Films), and Sameer Dixit, Jatish Varma, Rakesh Dang (Fortune Pictures/Seeta Films), the film promises a gripping watch.
