Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India] : In the aftermath of the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed 26 lives, intense counter-terrorism operations are being carried out at multiple locations across Jammu and Kashmir, according to sources familiar with the matter. Meanwhile, the Srinagar Police conducted extensive searches across the city targeting residences of Over Ground Workers (OGWs) and associates of banned terrorist organizations. These searches are linked to investigations under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). According to an official police release, 63 locations were searched under proper legal procedure and in the presence of Executive Magistrates and independent witnesses.
The primary objective of these operations is to collect evidence, seize arms, documents, and digital devices, and to gather actionable intelligence aimed at thwarting any terrorist plots threatening national security.
In a separate incident on Saturday, a joint operation by the Special Operations Group (SOG) Camp Machil and the Indian Army’s 12 SIKH LI unit led to the discovery and destruction of a terrorist hideout in the forested area of Sedori Nala.
