Jammu (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], June 20: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha led the 11th International Yoga Day celebrations in Jammu on Saturday, performing asanas alongside yoga enthusiasts in accordance with the Common Yoga Protocol.
Highlighting the relevance of yoga in the modern world, LG Sinha said, “In today’s fast-paced world, the importance of yoga is immeasurable. Yoga reduces stress and enhances the quality of life. This year’s theme, ‘Yoga for One Earth, One Health,’ reflects a holistic approach to well-being for humanity.”
He also stressed yoga’s role in promoting mental and spiritual harmony, calling it an ancient Indian tradition that unites body, mind, and spirit.
The LG appealed to the public to incorporate yoga into their daily lives and inspire others to do the same for better health and happiness.
Meanwhile, in Vadnagar, Gujarat, yoga practitioners achieved a Guinness World Record when 2,121 people held the Cobra Pose (Bhujangasana) simultaneously for two minutes and nine seconds.
Richard Stunning, official adjudicator for Guinness World Records, confirmed the record:
“The minimum number required was 250, and each participant had to hold the pose for at least a minute. Today, 2,185 people took part, and after verifying, 64 were disqualified. The final count stood at 2,121—an incredible achievement!”
The record-breaking event reflects the growing global impact of yoga, especially as the International Day of Yoga, observed annually on June 21, continues to attract massive participation and enthusiasm worldwide.
