Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Madhya Pradesh Congress President Jitendra Patwari has been booked for allegedly bribing a villager to make false claims of caste-based abuse, including being fed human excreta. The allegations have triggered a political storm, with the BJP accusing the Congress of spreading misinformation for political gain.
According to Madhya Pradesh Police, the case was filed based on an affidavit submitted by the villager, who stated that some Congress leaders took him to Patwari. There, he was allegedly asked to falsely accuse a local sarpanch of feeding him human waste, and was offered money to do so.
📹 Controversial Video Post:
On June 25, Patwari posted a video on social media featuring two men who were visibly distraught, claiming they had been forced to consume human excreta. In the tweet accompanying the video, Patwari alleged that the act was orchestrated by supporters of BJP MLA Brijendra Yadav, and targeted the ruling BJP government, questioning their treatment of Dalits, backward classes, and tribals.
He cited the viral video as an example of “anarchy” under BJP rule, drawing parallels to an earlier 2023 incident involving the urination of a tribal labourer.
👮 Police Investigation & SP’s Statement:
Superintendent of Police Vineet Kumar Jain said the entire narrative fell apart during the investigation.
“The villager later retracted his claims and admitted that the allegations were false. He confessed they were made at the insistence of Jitendra Patwari,” Jain said.
A case has been registered against Patwari and his aides under relevant sections of the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) for allegedly attempting to spread false information and create social unrest.
🗣️ Patwari’s Response:
Responding to the FIR, Jitendra Patwari remained defiant:
“I will continue to speak up for the oppressed. The opposition must raise its voice when atrocities are committed against farmers, Dalits, and the marginalised. Instead of investigating the abuse, the government is misusing power to silence us,” Patwari told ANI.
